Updates to RAMQ

In Québec, if you are not covered through a private insurance company*, you must be insured with the public plan. Therefore, it is important to note the changes to the Régie de l’Assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) that will be in effect from July 1st, 2018 to June 30th, 2019.

Here are the updates that will affect plan members:

  • Decrease in the annual premium from $667 to $616 per each individual on the plan
  • Increase in the maximum annual contribution from $1,066 to $1,087
  • Increase in the monthly deductible, from $19.45 to $19.90
  • Increase in co-insurance from 34.8% to 34.9%

Updates to RAMQ

For a drug costing $100, someone covered by RAMQ would have paid $47.48 with the deductible plus their co-insurance in the previous year. The remaining $52.52 would have been covered by RAMQ.

Updates to RAMQ

Starting July 1st, 2018, the same drug costing $100, someone covered by RAMQ will need paid $47.85, and the remaining $52.15 will be covered by RAMQ.

*Please note: In Québec, you and your dependents are obliged to be covered by a private insurance plan if you have access to one (through work, for example).
